Abstract: The article is devoted to a theoretical analysis of foreign publications on the role of music and its effectiveness in early support. The author attempts to systematize evidence about the influence of music on physiological and neural processes, emotional regulation, maturation of mental functions of a young child, as well as on strengthening of attachments, development of communication between children and close adults. The article highlights the high rehabilitative, correctional and developmental potential of musical instruments. Attention is focused on the advantages of musical interaction between children and parents at home. The focuses of early musical interventions in different social situations of the development of children in the first years of life are demonstrated, some missing links and gaps in the use of the method of music therapy are identified. Further research directions are outlined.
