Аннотация. Статья носит информационно-аналитический характер. В статье представлены основные изменения, произошедшие за последние двадцать лет в теории и практике инклюзивного образования; рассматриваются стратегии, методические приемы обучения детей и подростков с интеллектуальной недостаточностью; содержание и процедура итоговой аттестации; перспективы получения образования после окончания школы, возможности и условия успешного трудоустройства. Рассматриваются дискуссионные вопросы инклюзивного образования.
Ключевые слова: универсальный дизайн обучения, методические приемы, комплексные программы переходного периода, образование после школы; высшее образование, программы индивидуальной поддержки, программы двойного зачисления.

Abstract. The article is informational and analytical.The article deals with the major changes which took place during the last twenty years in the sphere of special and inclusive education of children, teenagers, young people with intellectual disabilities in the USA; it deals with the modern strategies, achievements in approaches and methodological methods of teaching, issues connected with final examinations, employment and opportunities of getting education after school, including-higher education.
Keywords: universal design for learning, learning strategies, assessment, comprehensive transitional programs, internships, substantially separate programs, blended programs, inclusive individual support programs, dual enrollment programs.
