In the modern world, synthetic polymers and materials based on them are widespread. From an environmental point of view, they represent a global problem, being the most numerous environmental pollutants. At the same time, most polymers and plastics, in particular polyethylene glycol terephthalate (PET), pose a tsunamic and growing risk to fauna and flora, both on land and in water. The main problem is the resistance of polymeric materials to degradation and natural decomposition and, as a result, the constantly growing environmental load on all ecosystems.

Key words:

polyethylene glycol terephthalate, biodegradation, recycling.
