Annotation.
The move toward evidence-based practice (EBP) in Bulgaria requires logopedists to understand the standards for assessing the quality of evidence, identifying the types of studies that build an evidence base in the field, and applying the evidence to clinical decision-making. The article examines theoretical and methodological issues associated with the evidence-based model of intensive treatment in adults who stutter (AWS). Its aim is to introduce the reader to the meaning of EBP and how the movement towards existing standards of practice abroad challenges some of the traditional Bulgarian beliefs in the field. The positive outcomes after applying the two stuttering programs 3 years after the intensive treatments are presented.
Key words: evidence-based practice (EBP), intensive treatment (IT), stuttering, adults who stutter (AWS), logopedics, logopedist, outcomes measurement, effectiveness.
